Within the framework of the 150th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on April 7 with the heads of parliaments of the Central Asian countries, emphasizing their commitment to deepening regional partnership.
The presidents of the parliaments of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan participated in the negotiations. During the dialogue, issues of strengthening friendship, good neighborliness, and strategic partnership between the countries of the region were discussed.
The historical significance of the recent meetings, including the complete settlement of border issues and the signing of the agreement on the point of intersection of the state borders of Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan in Khujand, was separately noted.
The parties highly appreciated the results of the "Central Asia - European Union" summit and Climate Forum held on April 4 in Samarkand, and emphasized the growth of trade turnover, the development of cross-border trade, cooperation projects, and the expansion of cultural and educational ties.
The President of Uzbekistan particularly noted the importance of the parliamentary dialogue as an instrument for promoting joint initiatives, bringing the peoples closer, and expanding humanitarian exchange in the region.
