The President supported the reduction of furniture furnishings duties
Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan will reduce customs duties on imported furniture components to make national products more competitive.
"For our national goods to be competitive, I agree with this," said President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, commenting on furniture manufacturers' proposal to reduce import raw material duties.
Today, the share of imported materials in the cost of furniture is 50-60%. In this regard, the relevant agencies were instructed to submit a draft resolution on the introduction of a preferential rate of 1% for the import of 14 types of raw materials and components - including hardware, accessories, LDSP, paints, and adhesives - for a period of 3 years. Also, the centralized import of timber and wood materials for the furniture industry will be organized.
Last year, furniture exports amounted to $20 million. As the head of state emphasized, with proper attention to quality, design, and branding, the export potential can be increased 10 times without expanding existing production capacities.
The state will also support furniture makers:
compensates 50% of the costs for the remuneration of foreign specialists (designers, marketers, engineers);
partially covers the costs of international certification;
will increase the paid area of stands at international exhibitions to 40 sq.m (instead of the previous 20 sq.m);
It was instructed to train 1,000 master furniture makers annually in modern skills with the involvement of qualified specialists.
