Today, on May 31, as part of the ongoing significant events in Uzbekistan, the XII session of tourism ministers of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation has begun its work, according to the press service of the Uzbekistan Tourism Committee.

Currently, the meeting of the Coordination Committee on Tourism is taking place in Khiva with the participation of representatives from OIC member states, including Türkiye, Senegal, Somalia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uganda, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Gabon, Egypt, Iraq, Libya, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Maldives, Oman, UAE, and several other countries.

Within the organization, discussions are being held on increasing tourist flows, mutual cooperation in the development of new tourism directions, and expanding the opportunities for barrier-free tourism.

It is worth reminding that at the XI session of tourism ministers of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Baku in 2022, the ancient city of Khiva, with its millennia-long history, was declared the "Tourism Capital of the Islamic World" for the year 2024.
