The House of Representatives of the United States of America voted in favor of removing Kevin McCarthy from the post of Speaker. This was reported by CNN.

According to information, 216 people voted in favor of this decision, against - 210 people. The proposal to remove Kevin McCarthy from office was put forward by the representative of the Republican Party Matt Gates.

On Sept. 30, McCarthy made a deal with Democrats to pass a budget resolution to fund 45 days of federal spending, which would help prevent a government shutdown. Because of this compromise, Gates called for the resignation of his party colleague.

The House of Representatives appointed Patrick McGenry as interim speaker.
