The Taliban has called on Western nations to pay reparations to Afghans affected by their military operations during the 20-year war in Afghanistan. Taliban spokesperson Zabihullah Mujahid emphasized that compensation should be provided to those who endured atrocities during the military occupation.

The British newspaper The Daily Telegraph previously reported that the UK Special Air Service (SAS) was accused of pursuing a deliberate policy of executing Afghan civilians, including children. These accusations were raised during public hearings investigating alleged war crimes in Afghanistan.

One witness claimed that the UK’s special forces conducted an "immoral and malicious policy," deliberately targeting even teenagers under the age of 16, who posed no threat.

Military analyst Zalmay Afghanar, in an interview with ToloNews, stated that not only the British but also 47 other countries operating under the European Union’s flag committed war crimes in Afghanistan. He urged the International Criminal Court in The Hague to form a commission to investigate these cases, demand compensation from the responsible nations, and prosecute them in international courts.

According to The Guardian, between 2010 and 2013, UK special forces killed at least 80 Afghan civilians in Helmand province. One British soldier reportedly killed 35 Afghan civilians during a six-month deployment.

The Taliban first announced their intention to demand billions of dollars in reparations from NATO member states, particularly the UK, for the 20-year war in the fall of 2021.
