The head coach of the Uzbekistan national football team, Timur Kapadze, announced the expanded squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Kyrgyzstan and Iran. The list includes leading players from local and foreign clubs, including Roma's Eldor Shomurodov and Manchester City's Abduqodir Khusanov.
The team will gather on March 17 to prepare for the decisive matches of the third qualifying round. On March 20th, the Uzbekistan national team will play Kyrgyzstan at the Bunyodkor Stadium in Tashkent (starting at 9:00 PM), and on March 25th, they will play an away match against Iran.
After six rounds, Uzbekistan is in second place in Group "A" with 13 points, behind leaders Iran (16). The UAE (10), Qatar (7), Kyrgyzstan (3), and North Korea (2) are also continuing their fight for the next stage.
