World
In the Official Journal of the EU, the word "Oligarch" in descriptions of Russians has now been replaced by the phrase "Leading Businessman".
The Council of the EU has made changes to the data on 140 individuals and 41 legal entities of the Russian Federation blacklisted.
The European Union has imposed many economic and individual sanctions against Russia due to the situation in Ukraine. These include sanctions against Russian businessmen, journalists and companies.
Last year, more than 60 entrepreneurs appealed to the European Court in Luxembourg with a claim against inclusion in the EU sanctions list. Businessmen believe that their fundamental rights were violated, in particular, their assets in the EU were illegally frozen. In addition, many argued that they were not “oligarchs” in the EU court.
