A press conference about the upcoming plans of "Pakhtakor" took place. It was announced that the Portuguese Pedro Moreira has started his work as the new head coach of the Tashkent-based "Pakhtakor" club. This was reported by tribuna.uz . Maxim Shaskikh will also remain within the club's system. A 1+1 contract has been signed with the new head coach, and he will be assisted by four compatriots.
The club's president, Jahongir Ortiqxo‘jayev, who participated in the event, announced that Maxim Shaskikh, who had been coaching the team in recent seasons, would continue working as an advisor to the club president.
"Shaskikh has not left the club. We thank him for two consecutive championships. This season, we did not set a goal for the championship. He will remain an advisor to me in the board of directors. With the new coach, we have signed a 1+1 contract and set the goal of winning the championship," said Ortiqxo‘jayev.
"This year’s expenses amounted to about 100 billion sums. Next year, it will increase further due to the stadium renovation," he also mentioned, and stated that the new coach’s salary is not disclosed, as it is part of the contract. He added, "Whatever it is, let him receive it honestly. No one should interfere with the new coach's work. We shouldn't turn him into a local figure who just sits in a teahouse after a week."
Pedro Moreira emphasized, "My ideas and philosophy match with Pakhtakor. We will work hard to win every game. Our goal is to return to the Elite Champions League. I want to help the team with my ideas. On the field, everything will be decided by the players. Of course, we will fight for the championship."
Ortiqxo‘jayev also announced the departure of Cheran, Merk, and Pavlyuchenko, and that "Iraq national team midfielder Bashar Resan will be Pakhtakor's first transfer."
