Trams Return to Tashkent

Uzbekistan

Trams will once again start running through the streets of Tashkent. During the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan to France, the Deputy Mayor of Tashkent, Sharof Rahmonov, and the French Minister Delegate for Foreign Trade and Affairs of Citizens Abroad, Laurent Saint-Martin, signed a roadmap for implementing the Tashkent tram system.

Trams Return to Tashkent
This document was officially announced on March 12 at the signing ceremony of interdepartmental agreements at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. According to the agreement, the responsibility for constructing tram lines in Tashkent will be assigned to Alstom, a leading French engineering company.

This initiative is a significant step in developing transport infrastructure and aims to expand the use of environmentally friendly public transport in Tashkent.

It is worth noting that the idea of reviving the tram system in the capital was first discussed in 2022 as part of the "Menimcha" program. Soon after, the head of state supported this initiative.

Further details regarding the project's technical aspects, routes, and implementation timeline are expected to be announced soon.
