Trump Announces Creation of Ships with Lasers and Railguns
U.S. President Donald Trump announced the start of a program to create a "new golden fleet" of ships of a "completely new class." He stated this during a ceremony at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, emphasizing that he would personally participate in the design development of the vessels.

According to the plan, construction of two ships with a displacement of 30-40 thousand tons each will begin in the near future, which will become the flagships of the U.S. Navy. They are planned to be equipped with the most advanced weaponry, including hypersonic missiles, electric railguns, powerful laser systems, as well as artificial intelligence components. The ships will be able to carry both nuclear weapons and prospective sea-based cruise missiles. According to Trump, in the future the fleet could be expanded to 10-25 ships.

About $26 billion is planned to be allocated for the implementation of the first phase of the project. Construction will take approximately 2.5 years, and the ships will be made of steel. The president added that these vessels could become "the largest in world history" and that he attaches particular importance to their aesthetics.

Simultaneously, Trump announced plans to build 15 new submarines, which will complement the existing fleet of more than 30 submarines.
