U.S. President Donald Trump announced that, as part of his scheduled medical examination, he also took a cognitive test. The 78-year-old politician stated that he acted differently from his predecessor Joe Biden, who had refused to undergo such a test.

“What else can I tell you — I answered all the questions correctly,” said Republican representative Trump during a press briefing on the evening of Friday, April 11. However, he did not disclose details about the type of test or his specific results.

Trump added that he had previously taken similar tests multiple times and always passed them without any errors. He also gave a positive assessment of his overall health: “Overall, I felt I was in very good shape. Good heart. Kind soul. Very kind soul.” He promised that the test results would be released on April 13.

There is a unique tradition in American politics: presidents occasionally share information about their health. Although not required by law, almost all U.S. presidents follow this informal custom, as noted by the dpa agency.

For reference: In 2021, Joe Biden became the oldest president in U.S. history, taking office at the age of 78. However, this record has now been surpassed by Donald Trump, who also returned to the presidency at age 78 but is several months older than Biden. Trump will turn 79 in June.

During his first presidential term (2017–2021), Donald Trump also faced questions about his mental state and fitness to govern. At the time, he sought to dispel doubts by taking a cognitive test. In January 2018, he took a test commonly used to detect early signs of dementia or Alzheimer’s disease. Trump scored a perfect 30 out of 30 and was very proud of it. He had previously referred to himself as a “very stable genius.”
