In retaliation for the October 23 attack on Turkish Aerospace headquarters in Ankara, Turkish forces carried out airstrikes on targets in Iraq and Syria linked to the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).

According to Turkish authorities, the PKK is responsible for the attack. The bombing resulted in the deaths of four Turkish Aerospace employees and a taxi driver, with 22 others injured. The attackers were killed on the spot.

The PKK has claimed responsibility for previous attacks in Turkey and is designated a terrorist organization by Turkey, the US, and the EU.
