Two Uzbeks injured in explosion in Kazakhstan

Rescuers recovered the bodies of two dead and five injured (three of them children) from under the rubble. Among the injured were citizens of Uzbekistan.

Today, 30 January, a gas cylinder exploded in the flat of a two-storey residential building in Bukhar-Zhyrau district of Karaganda region of Kazakhstan. As a result, two citizens of Uzbekistan were injured, the press service of the Embassy of Uzbekistan reported.

In the flat of a two-storey residential building, there was allegedly an explosion of a domestic gas cylinder with the subsequent complete collapse of the walls, roof and ceilings, as well as the flat located on the ground floor on an approximate area of 300 square metres, without burning. A total of 46 people lived in the house, at the time of the explosion there were 35 people in the house. In the course of rescue operations 7 people were extracted from the rubble.

Among the injured, citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan were also hospitalised in serious condition.

The situation is reportedly under control and contact is being maintained with the Karaganda Region Police and Emergency Departments. The Embassy asks citizens of Uzbekistan to be vigilant and report the threat or occurrence of an emergency situation.
