UN lowers flags, holds minute of silence
Flags were lowered in front of the UN headquarters in New York and a minute of silence was declared.

It is reported that the UN has declared mourning in memory of its staff members who have died in the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.

Secretary-General António Guterres led the organisation's staff in a moment of silence at the UN headquarters.

It is noted that 101 staff members of the United Nations Relief Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), the largest humanitarian organisation operating in the Gaza Strip, have died in the past month. According to UN officials, this is the first time in the history of the organisation that such a large number of employees have died in conflict zones in such a short period of time.
