Washington has approved a $23bn deal to sell F-16 fighter jets to Turkey, ending months of negotiations.
After Ankara ratified Sweden's membership in NATO, the US State Department approved the sale of F-16 fighter jets to Turkey for $23bn, DW reports.
According to a State Department press release, Turkey will receive 40 new F-16s.
In accordance with American law, the State Department notified Congress of the arms deal, as well as the sale of 40 F-35 aircraft for $8.6 billion to Greece - Turkey's neighbour, with which it has a long and often tense history.
