The US State Department has suspended visa issuance for nationals of 75 countries as part of stricter applicant screening procedures, Fox News reported on Wednesday, citing an internal memorandum.

According to the document, consular officers have been instructed to temporarily deny visa applications under existing law until a review of vetting and selection procedures is completed. The move is described as a temporary measure linked to enhanced security requirements.

The list of affected countries includes Russia, Somalia, Afghanistan, Brazil, Iran, Iraq, Egypt, Nigeria, Thailand, Yemen and several others.

No timeline has been announced for the completion of the review or the resumption of full visa processing.
