The US government will continue to provide military assistance to Israel after the end of the humanitarian pause in the Gaza Strip. This was announced by John Kirby, coordinator for strategic communications in the National Security Council (NSC) of the White House.

"We certainly still believe that Israel has the right and obligation to act against Hamas. They have talked about their military campaign and have been very clear that they intend to act against them [against Hamas] again after these pauses expire. When they make that decision, they will continue to have U.S. support in terms of the assets and weapons systems that they need and the advice and assessments that we can offer with respect to urban warfare," he said.

Kirby said US President Joe Biden, in a conversation with Israeli officials, emphasised that Israel would continue to receive US aid.

"Again, we do not support a permanent ceasefire at this time. We do support humanitarian pauses," the White House official added.

He noted that Washington is in favour of extending the current pause.
