US unveils new X-59 quiet supersonic aircraft
Development of the X-59 began in 2019, with assembly completed in 2021. The first test flight is scheduled for late spring or summer of this year. It is expected that the aircraft will be able to reach speeds of up to 1,488 km/h at an altitude of up to 16,800 metres.

NASA representatives explained that the project Quest, under which the X-59 was developed, will help in efforts to lift the ban on commercial supersonic flights. Restrictions on such flights have been in place for more than 50 years because of the resulting noise.
