In the final of the 71 kg weight class, Khavasbek Asadullayev defeated experienced Kazakh boxer and three-time World Championship bronze medalist Ablaikhan Zhussupov. However, during the bout, Asadullayev bit his opponent’s shoulder, committing a serious foul.

After a protest from the Kazakhstan Boxing Federation, the championship’s technical delegate, Irishwoman Sadie Duffy, reviewed the violation and made the decision to disqualify Asadullayev.

"Biting an opponent is a violation of the rules, which the referee did not notice during the match. However, the incident was later discovered. According to the regulations, if a boxer is disqualified, the victory is automatically awarded to the opponent. Therefore, the victory that had been awarded to the Uzbek boxer was transferred to Kazakh athlete Ablaikhan Zhussupov, who was declared the winner," said the ASBC official statement.

As a result of the tournament, Uzbekistan claimed first place with 8 gold, 2 silver, and 1 bronze medal. Kazakhstan finished second with (4−6−1). Following the incident, one gold medal was effectively transferred to the Kazakhstan team.
