Uzbek Governors Set Targets of 350,000 Jobs and 230,000 Families Lifted Out of Poverty

Regional and district governors have been tasked with effectively organising the work of headquarters and making full use of new opportunities to reduce poverty and increase household incomes. Concrete employment and poverty-reduction targets have been set for the September–December period.
During these four months, the regions are expected to place 350,000 people in permanent jobs and increase the incomes of another 1 million residents. By the end of the year, they are also tasked with lifting 230,000 families out of poverty.
To meet these targets, officials must develop clear mechanisms and action plans for each area of work and assign responsible personnel at the mahalla level.
Based on China’s experience, specific guidelines are to be prepared for employees who work directly with residents at the district and mahalla levels. The instructions are intended to support practical work with households and implementation of the assigned targets.
The meeting concluded with reports from responsible officials and regional leaders.
