Uzbekistan absorbed $7.4 bln of foreign investments in the first half of the year

In January-June this year Uzbekistan signed credit agreements with international financial institutions for $2.3 bln within 17 projects. A total of $7.4 bln of foreign investment has been disbursed since the beginning of the year.
Uzbekistan has absorbed $7.4 bln of foreign investments in the first half of 2023. This was reported by the head of the Department of Strategic Development and Analysis of the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade Dadakhon Dzhumaniyozov.
Credit agreements were concluded with international financial institutions and foreign state financial organisations for $2.3 bln within 17 projects.
At the same time, $2.9 bln of foreign direct investment and loans were disbursed through sectoral projects and $4 bln through regional projects.
According to the ministry's data, 41 548 new jobs were planned to be created by launching 2 706 projects worth $1.6 bln during the said period of 2023, while in practice 4 523 projects worth $2.9 bln were launched. As a result, 73 654 (32 029 more) new jobs were created.
