Uzbekistan and China Expand Security Cooperation

Uzbekistan and China have agreed to continue developing cooperation between their law enforcement agencies and expand security cooperation. The talks were held in Beijing during an official visit by a delegation of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs to China.
The Uzbek delegation was led by Minister of Internal Affairs, Lieutenant General Aziz Tashpulatov, while China was represented by Wang Xiaohong, Minister of Public Security of the People’s Republic of China. The sides agreed to continue implementing the 2026–2027 roadmap between Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs and China’s Ministry of Public Security, as well as develop cooperation in the “Central Asia – China” format.
The talks focused on combating terrorism and extremism, illicit drug trafficking, organized crime and other forms of transnational crime. Particular attention was given to exchanging best practices in cybersecurity and digital forensics and expanding practical cooperation between law enforcement agencies.
The parties also discussed cooperation in biometric identification, modern forensic technologies, police aviation and the use of unmanned systems.
The meeting highlighted the contribution of the Chinese government and Ministry of Public Security to strengthening the material and technical capacity of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Internal Affairs. Particular importance was attached to the Innovation Education Center of the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which is expected to support the training of specialists with modern knowledge and skills.
Beijing also hosted a meeting between the heads of law enforcement agencies from Central Asian countries and their Chinese counterparts. Combating cross-border crime and cybercrime was among the main areas of discussion.
A new training facility for law enforcement personnel from Central Asian countries and China was also opened. It will serve as a platform for professional training, exchange of experience and improvement of practical skills.
Following the meetings, the sides identified further tasks for developing cooperation in the areas discussed.
