Uzbekistan and France have established a strategic partnership

During President Shavkat Mirziyoyev's visit to Paris, the two countries' leaders signed a Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership. The parties agreed to invest 6.5 billion euros, establish an Uzbek-French university, and develop joint projects in energy, transport, culture, and education.

At the Élysée Palace, talks were held between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron. Following the meeting, a Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership was signed, which brings relations between the two countries to a new level.

Key areas of cooperation were:

Economy and Investments - Agreements worth 6.5 billion euros have been signed with leading French companies in the fields of energy, infrastructure, transport, and mineral extraction. Overall, the total portfolio of joint projects reached 12 billion euros.

Education - An agreement was reached to establish an Uzbek-French University in Tashkent, as well as to develop French language teaching programs

Culture and Science - Uzbekistan will host an avant-garde exhibition from the Savitsky Museum collection, and a representative office of the Heritage Institute will open in France for joint work on the preservation of monuments

Diplomacy - agreements on visa-free regime for diplomats, on the mobility of students and specialists, as well as a cooperation program between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries for 2025-2026 were signed.

Security - the parties agreed to jointly combat terrorism, extremism, and cybercrime. For the coordination of efforts, a Strategic Planning Group is being created.

The leaders also discussed issues of the international agenda and regional security. At the end of the meeting, Shavkat Mirziyoyev invited Emmanuel Macron to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan.
