Uzbekistan and Russia Customs Services Sign Cooperation Memorandum

Uzbekistan’s Customs Committee and the Canine Department of Russia’s Federal Customs Service have signed a cooperation memorandum. The document sets out key areas of cooperation between the two agencies in the training and operation of customs canine units.
The memorandum was signed on September 9 following a meeting of customs service representatives on the sidelines of the 7th Global Canine Forum of the World Customs Organization, being held in Tashkent from September 7 to 9.
“A memorandum was signed with the canine department of the Russian customs service,” the press service of Uzbekistan’s State Customs Committee said.
Under the document, the two sides will define key areas of cooperation both at present and in the future. The partnership will focus on canine training, the education and use of service dogs in customs operations, as well as the exchange of experience.
The 7th WCO Global Canine Forum is being held in Uzbekistan for the first time with Russia participating. Representatives of customs services from more than 50 countries are attending the event.
Participants are discussing current challenges facing the customs sector, customs security, the training of canine specialists, and the training and practical use of service dogs.
The forum in Tashkent is providing a platform for representatives of national customs services to meet and discuss further cooperation in the development of canine units.
