Uzbekistan and Russia Reaffirm Commitment to Strategic Partnership

Uzbek Foreign Minister Bakhtiyor Saidov held bilateral talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Council of Foreign Ministers meeting. The discussions focused on key areas of bilateral cooperation and coordination within multilateral institutions.
The ministers noted the strong momentum in the strategic partnership and allied relations between Uzbekistan and Russia. Particular attention was given to the timely implementation of agreements reached at the highest level, as well as to expanding trade, economic and interregional cooperation.
The two sides also reviewed opportunities to deepen cultural and humanitarian exchanges as an important component of bilateral relations.
Bakhtiyor Saidov and Sergey Lavrov exchanged views on current regional and international issues and reaffirmed their readiness to continue close cooperation within the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the United Nations and other multilateral frameworks.
