Uzbekistan introduces unified state examinations for graduates
Uzbekistan
Starting from the new academic year, Uzbekistan will introduce unified state exams for 9th and 11th grade students. Based on the results, graduates will be able to enter either vocational colleges or universities.
This was announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during a dialogue with teachers on the eve of Teacher and Mentor Day, which connected more than 40,000 educators across the country.
Today, 6.5 million children are studying in schools. This year, about 400,000 students completed the 9th grade, while 720,000 were admitted to the 1st grade. Over the past eight years, nearly 500 new schools have been built, creating 1 million additional student places. More than 200,000 children are enrolled in private schools.
According to the President, the new exams will help each student define their path: around 400,000 ninth-graders will continue in vocational colleges, while those aiming for universities will study their chosen subjects in depth.
President stressed: “Final school exams should become a real starting point: graduates should be able to enroll directly either in a vocational college or a university.”
