As part of the preparations for this event, an online meeting took place on June 14, 2024, between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the leadership of UNESCO, according to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.

The negotiations were also attended by heads and representatives of various ministries and departments of our country, as well as the relevant departments of the UNESCO Secretariat.
During the meeting, there was an exchange of views on the progress of preparations for the main governing body's session in Samarkand. As a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached to continue joint work and maintain close contact in all areas to ensure the session is held at the highest level.
In 2025, the city of Samarkand will host the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference, which will be held outside the headquarters in Paris for the first time in forty years.
