Uzbekistan Launches Nuclear Medicine Development Project
On February 10, a working meeting on the development of nuclear medicine in Uzbekistan was held at the Uzatom agency. The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Health, профильные agencies and research institutions, as well as experts from Rosatom Technologies.

The parties discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation in building modern nuclear medicine infrastructure. The Russian side presented its experience in deploying cyclotron complexes, producing radiopharmaceuticals, establishing PET/CT diagnostic centers, and implementing turnkey international projects.

As a result of the talks, the sides agreed to jointly develop a roadmap and strategy for nuclear medicine development in the country. These documents will form the basis for technology transfer, specialist training, and modernization of cancer diagnosis and treatment systems.

Earlier, a project to create a Nuclear Medicine Center in Tashkent was launched under a state program. In 2026, it is planned to equip the center with PET/CT systems, a cyclotron, a radiopharmaceutical laboratory, as well as Gamma Knife and CyberKnife units. The project is expected to increase access to high-tech medical care and expand early cancer detection capabilities.

Uzatom noted that it will continue promoting advanced technologies in nuclear medicine and strengthening international cooperation.
