Venezuela Earthquake Death Toll Nears 5,000

The death toll from the devastating earthquake in Venezuela continues to rise, approaching the 5,000 mark. Authorities say rescue and humanitarian operations remain underway as thousands of survivors are still without permanent shelter.
According to National Assembly President Jorge Rodríguez, the number of fatalities has reached 4,930. Another 16,740 people were injured, while 17,907 residents have been left homeless. Rescue teams have saved 6,462 people, and 35,781 victims have received medical treatment.
The disaster caused extensive damage to infrastructure. A total of 190 buildings were completely destroyed, while 856 sustained major damage. Authorities have accommodated 21,210 people in 107 temporary shelters, provided assistance to 128,324 families, and delivered more than 10,000 tons of food supplies to affected communities.
