Uzbekistan Plans Long-Term Jet A-1 Aviation Fuel Imports from China

Uzbekistan is considering long-term supplies of Jet A-1 aviation fuel from China as part of efforts to diversify imports and establish a more stable aviation fuel supply system. The issue was discussed during a meeting between the management of Uzbekneftegaz and Yu Jun, China’s Ambassador to Uzbekistan.
Abdugani Sanginov, Chairman of the Board of Uzbekneftegaz, received the Chinese delegation. The talks focused on bilateral cooperation and prospective investment projects in the oil and gas sector.
Particular attention was given to the possibility of establishing direct cooperation between Uzbekneftegaz and China National Aviation Fuel Group and Sinopec. China’s Embassy in Tashkent could assist in developing these direct business contacts.
Uzbekneftegaz already cooperates with major Chinese companies, including CNPC, CCDC, BGP, Jereh and Honghua, in geological exploration, drilling, oilfield services and the introduction of advanced technologies.
The move to diversify aviation fuel supplies comes amid export restrictions on petroleum products introduced by some partner countries. Uzbekistan has previously arranged imports of aviation kerosene from alternative sources, including Georgia and Iraq.
Following the meeting, both sides expressed readiness to expand cooperation and pursue new investment and technology projects in the energy sector.
