Uzbekistan Prevents Smuggling of Potent Medicines Worth 6 Billion Soums

At the Uzbekistan–Kyrgyzstan border near the city of Kuvasay, servicemen of the State Security Service’s Border Troops, together with the Fergana regional department, intercepted a large batch of banned pharmaceutical products.
During the operation, officers discovered seven boxes containing 53,522 tablets of “Regapen” and 20,000 tablets of “Zardex”, with an estimated total value exceeding 6.02 billion soums.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the medicines had been smuggled from Kyrgyzstan. A criminal case has been opened under Article 246 (Smuggling) and Article 251-1 (Illegal circulation of potent substances) of the Criminal Code.
Authorities are currently working to identify those involved in the attempted smuggling.
