Uzbekistan ranks 53rd in the World Happiness Report
Uzbekistan
The report is traditionally published on March 20 — International Day of Happiness. It is released annually as part of a UN initiative with the participation of Gallup Institute and Oxford Wellbeing Research Centre.
The study covered 147 countries and was based on two key indicators. The first is the so-called “Cantril ladder,” where people assess their quality of life on a scale from 0 to 10. Uzbekistan’s average score was about 6.2 points.
The second indicator reflects social engagement — charitable giving, helping strangers, and law-abiding behavior. It also considers emotional responses, including both positive and negative experiences.
Among neighboring countries, Kazakhstan ranked higher at 43rd place. Russia placed 66th, Kyrgyzstan 75th, and Tajikistan 90th.
Finland topped the ranking for the eighth consecutive year. Other countries in the top five happiest nations are Denmark, Iceland, Sweden, and the Netherlands. The least happy countries were Lebanon, Sierra Leone, and Afghanistan.
