According to the report of the U.S. Trade Representative on the legal protection and defence of intellectual property rights, Uzbekistan has been excluded from the list of countries under observation (blacklist). This was reported by the Ministry of Justice of Uzbekistan.

Uzbekistan removed from the list of countries violating intellectual property rights
"It has been achieved over the past five years as a result of systematic efforts to simplify procedures for registering intellectual property objects, effectively protecting their rights, participating in international agreements and developing international relations, as well as implementing WTO requirements into national legislation," the message says.

Uzbekistan was included in this list in 2000 and remained on the "watch list" for 24 years. Until today, only Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan remained in the this list from the Central Asian region. The inclusion of a specific country in the "list of countries under observation" indicates serious problems with the protection of intellectual property, with particular attention being paid to the implementation of direct investment activities by foreign enterprises.

It should be reminded that in 2020, the U.S. State Department removed Uzbekistan from the Special Watch List for violations of religious freedoms, where the country had been since 2018.
