Uzbekistan to Establish a State Center for Sports Medicine and Research

The draft government resolution “On measures to organize the activities of the State Scientific and Practical Center for Sports Medicine” has been published.
The center will operate under the Uzbek State Academy of Physical Culture and Sports and will serve as a specialized public medical institution responsible for implementing state policy in the field of sports medicine.
Its main mission is to provide medical support and preparation for Uzbekistan’s national athletes, as well as to advance research in sports physiology and rehabilitation.
According to the project:
- operations will begin in 2026;
- a dedicated building is under construction in the Olympic Town of Tashkent;
- by 2027, regional branches will open in Andijan, Bukhara, and Samarkand;
- funding and equipment procurement will be covered by the state budget.
The center’s structure will include management, medical, research, and technical staff.
The wages and incentives for medical and scientific employees will be provided in accordance with Cabinet of Ministers regulations, which include bonuses for academic degrees and professional qualifications.
The creation of the center aims to elevate Uzbekistan’s sports medicine system to international standards, ensuring top-level medical support for athletes competing in major global events, including the Olympic Games.
