At the beginning of the meeting, the Turkmen leader conveyed greetings and best wishes from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan to the Uzbek head of state.

The discussions focused on strengthening and deepening friendship, good neighborliness, and strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.

It was noted with great satisfaction that multifaceted cooperation is actively developing in all areas — including political, inter-parliamentary, trade and economic, transport and communication, and cultural-humanitarian fields.

Productive dialogue is taking place at all levels. Regular meetings of the intergovernmental commission, the Business Council, the Regional Forum, cultural days, exhibitions, and other events are being held. Last year, the volume of mutual trade reached $1.1 billion. Trade houses were established in both capitals, and freight volumes are increasing. The goal has been set to increase trade turnover to $2 billion in the coming years.

Mutually beneficial cooperation is progressing in energy, transport, agriculture, water management, and other sectors. A joint “Shovot-Tashovuz” cross-border trade zone is being established.

Active interregional dialogue has been launched, and large-scale programs of cultural and humanitarian exchange are being implemented.

It was agreed to hold the third Regional Forum in the city of Khiva this year, as well as Days of Turkmen Culture in Uzbekistan.

The two leaders exchanged views on regional cooperation, including upcoming summits in the “Central Asia Plus” format and preparations for the seventh Consultative Meeting of Central Asian Heads of State to be held in Tashkent.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev highlighted the importance of the forum and other international events to be held in December this year in Ashgabat, as part of the International Year of Peace and Trust, proclaimed by the UN General Assembly at the initiative of Turkmenistan.

During the meeting, the President of Uzbekistan presented the National Leader of the Turkmen People with a copy of the Uzbek edition of the book “The Pearl of Thought,” authored by him.
