Uzbekistan's GDP surged by 6.2% in Q1 2024

According to preliminary data, in January-March 2024, the gross domestic product (GDP) of the Republic of Uzbekistan at current prices amounted to 242,701.6 billion sums, showing a growth of 6.2% compared to the same period in 2023. This was reported by the press service of the Uzbekistan Statistics Agency.
It is noted that the growth of the industrial sector was 6.5%, and its positive contribution to GDP growth was 1.8 percentage points. The growth of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries amounted to 3.6%, with its positive contribution to GDP growth being 0.4 percentage points.
The increase in the volume of construction work was 6.8%. The positive contribution of the construction industry to GDP growth was 0.4 percentage points.
The growth rate in the service sector was 6.8%. Trade, catering, and public catering services grew by 10.2%, transportation and storage, information and communication grew by 10.4%, and other service sectors grew by 5.1%. The positive contribution of the service sector to GDP growth was 3.4 percentage points.
The volume of net taxes on products increased by 3.6%, with its positive contribution to GDP growth being 0.2 percentage points.
