Vucic Warns of an Approaching “Major War”

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic warned that the world is on the brink of a large-scale military conflict, saying countries have so far failed to take sufficient steps to prevent it. He made the remarks in a podcast hosted by Mathias Döpfner, CEO of Axel Springer.
“I think we are on the brink of a major war. That is why I hoped that someone would already take steps to prevent it. But that has not happened and will not happen in the near future,” Vucic said.
He predicted that increasingly destructive means would be used in the coming years as a new global political order takes shape. Over the next five years, he expects major powers to seek greater independence and reduce their reliance on external forces.
Vucic identified the United States and China as the main centers of power in the emerging global order. In his forecast, they would be followed by the European Union and then by Russia, India and other major regional powers.
