Human rights activists have recorded at least 137 attacks on health facilities in the Gaza Strip since the start of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict on 7 October. WHO, the UN Population Fund and UNICEF said in a joint statement.
"Over the past 36 days, WHO has recorded at least 137 attacks on healthcare in Gaza, resulting in 521 deaths and 686 injuries, including 16 deaths and 38 injuries of health workers," the organisations said in a statement.
The statement referred to attacks on Al-Shifa and Al-Quds hospitals, as well as Al-Rantisi Children's Hospital. According to the organisations, more than half of the hospitals in the Gaza Strip are closed and the existing facilities are under heavy strain and can only provide emergency care, such as life-saving operations and intensive care.
