On January 7, a wildfire broke out in the forests of Pacific Palisades, located in Los Angeles, USA. Due to strong winds and drought, it quickly spread over 486 hectares. More than 30,000 local residents have evacuated their homes as a result of the fire. Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass has declared a state of emergency.

The fire is spreading rapidly in northern Pasadena. Strong winds have made it impossible to use helicopters for firefighting. Another fire broke out at Burbank Airport, located in northern Los Angeles.

According to the company PowerOutage US, nearly 17,000 people in Los Angeles County have been left without electricity. Additionally, Los Angeles has not seen rain for several months. Meteorological service data indicates that only 4 mm of rain has fallen in the city since July 1.

The newspaper Los Angeles Times reports on the fire in the Pacific Palisades area, calling it “Out of control.” “The fire is burning an area the size of five football fields every minute.”
