Women's Voice of the SCO: New Format of Scientific Diplomacy for Asia Launched in Tashkent
Uzbekistan
The women's agenda within the Shanghai Cooperation Organization space is ascending to a fundamentally new international level. In an era of global technological challenges and the pursuit of innovative solutions, it is women scientists and young researchers who are becoming the primary driving force behind people's diplomacy. The large-scale forum held in Uzbekistan not only highlighted the growing role of women in major politics and science but also laid a solid legal foundation for strengthening trust between a new generation of civil activists stretching from Central to South Asia.
In connection with the 25th anniversary of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Youth Parliament under the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, together with the SCO People's Diplomacy Center, organized an international women's forum titled "Women's Voice of the SCO: From Society to the International Stage". The platform brought together senators, Youth Parliament members, representatives of scientific and public spheres from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, and India, alongside media professionals. The event was opened with a video address by the Deputy Secretary-General of the SCO, Piao Yangfan.
The primary focus of the forum revolved around supporting the scientific potential of women, expanding the participation of young scientists and researchers in international scientific cooperation, and developing the exchange of experience in education, science, and innovation. During various sessions, delegates exchanged views on initiatives aimed at increasing women's activity in public life, strengthening their role on the international stage, and empowering them in educational and scientific endeavors.
The forum concluded with the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the SCO People's Diplomacy Center in Uzbekistan and the Youth Parliament under the Senate. This memorandum provides for strengthening friendship and mutual understanding among youth at international and regional levels, expanding cultural and humanitarian cooperation, and promoting the ideas of peace, tolerance, and civic engagement across the SCO space.
