The military wounded nine people, using weapons and equipment intended to protect the security of the population and the country, according to Deputy Interior Minister Johnny Aguilera.

On June 26, media reported a military buildup at Murillo Square in La Paz, where government buildings are located. The military tried to break into the presidential palace. Bolivian President Luis Arce described the events as an attempted coup d'état. Leaders of many foreign countries expressed support for President Arce. Subsequently, he appointed a new military leadership for the country, and General Zuniga was arrested.
