A Driverless Mega Metro Network is Being Built in Dubai
World
According to Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), each train on the Blue Line will have a capacity of 988 passengers. In the future, the system aims to increase the daily passenger count to 350,000 people. Initially, the project is designed to serve 200,000 passengers per day.
The Blue Line is scheduled to launch on September 9, 2029. The 30 km long line will include 14 strategically significant stations, helping reduce traffic congestion in various parts of Dubai by 20%.
The trains will operate on a driverless system and will be fully controlled by AI technology. These technologies ensure strict adherence to schedules. For instance, if a disruption occurs with the doors during boarding, the system will automatically recalculate the timetable and continue service without delays.
A budget of 20.5 billion dirhams has been allocated for the Blue Line project, which is being implemented in collaboration with international companies such as MAPA, LIMAK, and CRRC.
