The shooting occurred on the evening of Thursday, April 24, in the city of Pahalgam. The area is under Indian control, but Pakistan has long claimed it as its own.

Pakistan's Ministry of Defense has announced its readiness for war with India. The announcement was posted on its official X (formerly Twitter) social media account.

In its statement, Pakistan threatened to devastate one of India's territories.

"Thank you, Modi (Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi), you have united our nation. Do you want war? Pakistan is ready," the official message reads.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Prime Minister noted that the situation should raise global concern.

"The world should be worried about the growing confrontation between two nuclear powers — India and Pakistan," said Defense Minister Khawaja Asif.

According to him, the conflict could escalate into a "full-scale war." However, Asif also expressed hope that the conflict could be resolved through negotiations.

For context: Relations between the two countries worsened after a terrorist group attacked civilians and tourists in the disputed Jammu and Kashmir region on April 22. The attack left 26 people dead (25 of them Indian citizens). The Kashmir Resistance group claimed responsibility for the attack.
