The Milli Majlis (Parliament) of Azerbaijan has approved the candidature of Ali Asadov for the post of Prime Minister of the country at its session.

At the voting 105 deputies expressed support for the appointment of Ali Asadov as Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, with one vote against and one abstention. The decision was made on the basis of President Ilham Aliyev's submission.

Ali Asadov had already served as head of government from October 2019 to 14 February 2024, when, according to the constitutional procedure, the government resigned after the newly elected president began his duties.

In his speech at the meeting, Asadov emphasised that one of the key tasks of the government will be to improve the lives of citizens. He also noted that the main priorities for the coming period will be strengthening defence and national security, developing technologies in the military sphere, improving the military-industrial complex and ensuring the inviolability of borders.
