On July 3, President Mirziyoyev, accompanied by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, toured the restored historical-architectural complex “Imarat” in Aghdam. The visit was part of the ECO Summit agenda and was attended by delegations from member countries.

Aghdam is a city located in the western part of Azerbaijan, in the Karabakh region. Since 2021, the area has seen large-scale reconstruction, including the building of new schools, kindergartens, residential areas, and government facilities.

The centerpiece of the visit was the “Imarat” complex, which houses the mausoleum of Panah Ali Khan, the founder of the Karabakh Khanate. The site reopened in 2024 after extensive restoration and archaeological work. A Karabakh Horse Park and a modern interactive museum have also been established there.

The leaders were introduced to the renovated facilities and attended the cultural performance “Zafar” (“Victory”) featuring Karabakh horses — a colorful show reflecting the rich cultural heritage and traditions of the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan.
