Alisher Sultanov Relieved of His Duties as Presidential Representative for Energy Security
Uzbekistan
The President of Uzbekistan has signed a decree relieving Alisher Saidabbasovich Sultanov of his position as the presidential representative for energy security. The decision was announced by presidential press secretary Sherzod Asadov.
The reasons for the dismissal and any subsequent appointments have not been disclosed. The post was introduced following structural changes within the Presidential Administration, and Sultanov had held the position since July this year.
Sultanov has extensive experience in the energy sector. He began working in the oil and gas industry in 1996 and previously headed the Shurtan Gas Chemical Complex and Uzbekneftegaz. He also served as Deputy Prime Minister overseeing geology and the fuel and energy complex.
From 2019 to 2022, Sultanov served as Minister of Energy, leaving the post due to health reasons. In 2023, he was appointed presidential adviser on oil and gas, chemical and energy issues, supervising key ministries and state-owned energy companies.
Following changes to the structure of the Presidential Administration earlier this year, his responsibilities may have been revised.
