Following Telegram’s renewed blockage in Russia, the messenger’s creator Pavel Durov promised to adapt the platform, making its traffic “harder to detect and block.” According to him, millions of Russians continue to use the app via VPN, sending millions of messages daily despite restrictions.

“Welcome back to 'Digital Resistance,' my Russian brothers and sisters. The entire nation is now mobilized to bypass these absurd restrictions,” Durov wrote on his social media accounts.

He noted that similar measures were previously imposed in Iran, with results comparable to the current situation in Russia. According to Durov, 65 million Russians use Telegram daily through VPNs, and over 50 million actively send messages.

Earlier, mass disruptions occurred in the operations of Russian banks. Forbes reported that one possible reason could be internet restrictions.
