Alisher Usmonov – First Time in the “Forbes” Ranking for Uzbekistan
World
One of the world's most influential economic publications, "Forbes", has for the first time included Alisher Usmonov in its list of the world's richest people, representing Uzbekistan. Although Usmonov had been listed as a representative of Russia for many years, he officially became part of Uzbekistan’s business community in 2025.
With a wealth of 16.7 billion dollars, Usmonov ranked 125th on the list, climbing 19 places from last year. His wealth increased by 3.3 billion dollars, helping him secure a higher position among billionaires.
However, this is not just a financial matter. Usmonov being listed as a representative of Uzbekistan is a significant change for the country. This enhances Uzbekistan's economic reputation on the international stage and signals that its business environment is reaching a global level.
In this year’s list, Forbes also announced that 24 billionaires, previously listed as Russian nationals, have now been listed as representatives of other countries, including France, the United Kingdom, Latvia, Monaco, and Israel. This shift is related to Russia's geopolitical challenges and entrepreneurs’ desires to change jurisdictions.
For example:
Aleksey Kuzmichev (7.5 billion dollars) – France
Petr Aven (4.7 billion dollars) – Latvia
Yelena Baturina (1.3 billion dollars) – United Kingdom
Leonid Fedun (10.4 billion dollars) – Monaco
Arkadiy Voloj (1.2 billion dollars) – Israel
This trend indicates that Russian entrepreneurs are looking for new economic spaces, and Uzbekistan might be one of them.
As usual, the top spots in the Forbes rankings are occupied by founders of technological giants:
Elon Musk – 342 billion dollars (Tesla, SpaceX)
Mark Zuckerberg – 216 billion dollars (Meta)
Jeff Bezos – 215 billion dollars (Amazon)
Larry Ellison – 192 billion dollars (Oracle)
Many of these billionaires continue to increase their wealth through the development of artificial intelligence and new technologies.
