European Council President António Costa delivered a sharp response to the updated U.S. National Security Strategy, stating that Europe will not tolerate American interference in its internal political affairs.

António Costa: The United States Will Not Dictate Europe’s Policies
Speaking at a conference in Paris on Monday, Costa criticized Washington after the newly released U.S. strategy warned that the EU’s migration and economic policies could lead to Europe’s “civilizational erasure.”

The American document praised “patriotic European parties” opposing Brussels’ agenda and argued that uncontrolled migration, flawed economic decisions, and excessive regulation pose existential risks to Europe.

Costa stressed that no ally — including the United States — has the right to dictate Europe’s political course or influence the democratic choices of its citizens.

“Allies must not interfere in each other’s political life or democratic choices. The United States cannot replace Europe in defining our vision or determining what freedom of expression means,” Costa said.
