On August 27, a ceremony of awarding honorary titles, orders and medals was held in Tashkent to mark Uzbekistan’s Independence Day. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, congratulating citizens, stressed that the country’s reforms have become irreversible and brought significant results.

Over the past eight years, Uzbekistan’s GDP has grown to $115 billion, and according to IMF forecasts, it will surpass $130 billion this year – a record in the nation’s history.

With $155 billion of investments, more than 100,000 projects have been implemented, providing income sources for over 7 million people. Housing for 500,000 families has been built – four times more than in the first 25 years of independence.

Education has also seen major progress: preschool capacity increased to 2.5 million, 466 new schools were built, and the number of students grew fivefold to 1.5 million.

The President called entrepreneurs “the backbone of the economy.” Industrial exports rose from $28 billion to $62 billion, construction volumes quadrupled, and the number of private construction companies exceeded 30,000.

Tourism and IT are expanding rapidly: tourism exports reached $3 billion, while IT services surpassed $1 billion for the first time.

“Every achievement – whether new enterprises, roads, schools or hospitals – primarily serves to uphold human dignity and protect the rights and interests of our citizens,” Mirziyoyev emphasized.

At the end of the ceremony, the President congratulated all awardees and expressed gratitude for their contribution to building the “New Uzbekistan.”
